The Summer Learning Academy returns this summer for students entering Grades 1-8 in Fall, 2012.

Dates: June 11 – July 20, 2012
(Closed the week of July 2nd – 6th)
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Breakfast, lunch and transportation will be provided.
The goal of the Learning Academy is to strengthen reading and math achievement so that students are ready for success when school begins in August. Students who enroll are required to participate in the full program. Students will be researching and writing their own books about science and social studies topics. During Friday field trips students will visit sites such as the new Cleveland Aquarium, the Cleveland Zoo, Garfield Park Reservation, and Mill Creek. Naturalists will help students with their research and field notes as they gather information for their books. Math instruction will be project-based as students apply math skills to create models to illustrate their learning.
Parents of eligible students have been sent applications in the mail or Wednesday folders. Applications are to be returned to the school office. An Academy Orientation for parents is scheduled for Thursday, June 7th at 6:00 p.m. in the High School auditorium. A showcase of student books and projects will be presented to parents on Friday, July 20th.
