Dear Tiger Family:

Just a few hours ago, Governor Mike DeWine announced that state lawmakers unanimously passed emergency legislation to address a number of issues caused by the coronavirus, including high school graduation and state testing requirements.

I, along with so many of you, have had many questions about what lies ahead for the remainder of the school year.  While we still do not have all the answers, I am pleased to share that this legislation begins to provide us more clarity.  Here is a brief highlight of how this impacts our District:

=    All State testing including the Ohio State Tests and End of Course Exams have been suspended.

=    The Third Grade Reading Guarantee is included in this test suspension however, all Districts are still responsible for insuring that scholars have demonstrated the reading skills necessary to move to the 4th grade.

=    The Ohio Graduation Test Requirements were modified which means that all high school seniors who were on track to graduate before the coronavirus crisis will be allowed to graduate.

=    Districts must continue distance learning and find ways to keep scholars engaged. Please know that should the closure extend beyond our April 6th tentative return date, we are committed to continuing our distance learning with opportunities for all PreK-Grade 12 scholars including both e-learning and technology-free tools.

While I know this does not address all of our questions, it does provide us with some clarity of how we will be moving forward.   As promised, we will continue to update you as new decisions are made that affect our scholars and school District community.

We will get through this together—One Team, One Vision, One Goal.

I am and always will be #TigerProud.

In Service,

Donald J. Jolly II
