Dear Tiger Family:
Just a short time ago, Governor Mike DeWine announced that all
Ohio K-12 schools will remain closed through Friday, May 1, 2020. This
action is in response to the COVID-19 health crisis.
We know that closing our schools causes significant
challenges to our District families. Warrensville Heights City Schools is
committed to continuous learning while maintaining health and safety as a top
priority.
Fortunately, our teachers and academic team have been preparing for the possibility of a long-term school closure. Up until this point, we have been operating under the Governor’s short-term closure order, which set an end date of this Friday, April 3. However, with a longer-duration closure now in effect until at least May 1, we are modifying our distance learning program to ensure that it will be sustainable for our students, staff, and families, and that it will be responsive to whatever lies ahead.
Specific details will come from your principal and child’s teacher(s) soon, and we anticipate implementing the adjustments next Monday,
April 6. We have several guiding
principles and goals for our distance learning program:
- Engage scholars in meaningful and relevant work
so they can continue learning and progressing.
- Keep scholars connected to our schools and each
other through the shared experiences of distance learning.
- Provide continuity and consistency to help
scholars remain healthy in all domains of their life.
We will best meet and exceed our goals by adjusting our
program now to ensure it remains vibrant and engaging throughout the weeks
ahead. Please know, we will continue
sharing information with you as soon as it is available. These are complex and
challenging times for everyone and we appreciate your patience as we navigate
it together. Here is some additional
information that what we know right now:

- We are not in this alone. The executive order affects all K-12
schools across the state of Ohio.
- Students WILL continue to learn this school year - just not
in the traditional format.
- Free meals will continue to be provided with delivery on
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Should
modifications be made we will alert you.
- All school activities and athletics are cancelled through
May 1, 2020.
- School board meetings will continue via remote conferencing
through Zoom.
- The deep cleaning/disinfecting of all schools and buses is already
underway and will continue.
- Though assignments may look different, ALL Warrensville
Heights City School District employees will continue to be paid.
Again, we appreciate your patience and support. Our ability
to work together for the children in our community is our greatest strength. We will continue sharing updates and
information as this situation continues to evolve.
We will get through this together—One Team, One Vision, One Goal.
