Karamu Arts Education Program Announced

Drama – Vocal Music – Dance – Script Writing -- If you are a WHCSD Scholar in grades 6-12 with an interest in any of these areas, the Karamu House Arts Residency Program wants you!  Providing performing arts training taught by professionals, the program meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Warrensville Heights High School Auditorium.  
Scholars will participate in skill-based, rigorous training, while being exposed to the professional standards of theater and mastery. Students will learn how to tell stories through writing and movement as well as create works that promote a positive self-image and honor their heritage. The program also incorporates Ohio’s New Learning Standards in Social Studies, Literacy, Drama, and Dance.  
 
Session I begins Tuesday, September 11 with a culminating performance on Friday, November 9th. The focus of Session I will be on drama, dance/movement, and creative writing.
Session II begins on Tuesday February 19 and ends with a performance on Friday, May 17th. Session II’s focus will be on script analysis and script writing.
