District-Wide STEAM Fair May 16

Join us on Wednesday, May 16 from 5-8 p.m. at Warrensville Heights High School for the semi-annual district STEAM Fair. STEAM -- which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math -- is a free interactive fair showcasing fun STEAM activities created by WHCSD scholars from all grade levels.  Visitors will see how the STEAM curriculum is making on impact on their education and preparing scholars for post-secondary education and high-demand career fields.

Among the activities are martial arts demonstrations, a ballet performance, and a display of drawings, paintings, ceramics, and other works of art by scholars from all grade levels. Guests will be transported through space and time to view the wonders of the universe at the high school’s TigerPlanet planetarium. Shows are scheduled at 5:30, 5:45, and 6 p.m. The Firefighter/EMT program will sponsor the Smokehouse to help you know what to do in the event of a real fire. Information will also be available on STEAM- based college programs as well as STEAM-based careers. Interactive displays will focus on learning activities incorporating STEAM objectives.

Participants will receive a punch card inviting them to the various activities.  After receiving four punches their card will be entered into a drawing for two iPads (Must be present to win!).

“Our scholars have worked hard to demonstrate their mastery of STEAM objectives and we’re hopeful for a large turnout of families and friends to support their academic efforts,” said Ruth Ray, secondary academic coordinator and STEAM Fair organizer. “You really have to come and experience what STEAM is all about in the Warrenville Heights City Schools.”

The event is open to all WHCSD families and the residents of Warrensville Heights, North Randall, and Highland Hills.
