Annual HBCU College Fair November 18
The HBCU Alumni of Cleveland are proud to announce the 15th Anniversary Historically Black College and University (HBCU) College Fair presented by McDonald’s! This event continues to be the largest HBCU recruitment event in Ohio. It’s more than a college fair – it’s an expo of programs, services and resources for students to succeed.

The event will take place Saturday, November 18 at Warrensville Heights High School.  The 15th Anniversary festivities will conclude with a Jazz Brunch Celebration on Sunday, November 19, 2017.

The Cleveland Council of Black Colleges Alumni Association organizes the fair. The council is comprised of graduates and supporters of accredited public or private HBCUs who reside in Greater Cleveland.

In its humble beginnings, the fair was primarily supported by a few alumni chapters and reached a meager audience of less than 200 people in the basement of the Antioch Baptist Church or the former African American Museum of Cleveland. Now the event attracts HBCU admissions personnel, major sponsors and national attention.

In 2016, the multi-day event attracted the participation of nearly 4000 students, parents and educators. Students were able to complete applications, gain on-site acceptance and receive scholarship offers immediately.

This 15th year is particularly special with the celebration of accomplishments and scholastic success stories of youth who participated in the college fair. We will also acknowledge HBCU graduates who are successful professionals in Northeast Ohio.

From the rigorous academic offerings, legacy, historic landmarks, influential graduates and student engagement; these institutions can truly bear witness that with hard work, perseverance, and commitment – a student can fulfill their dreams and prepare for the challenges ahead.

The HBCUs represented and other exhibitors in attendance will add value to the students served to allow them to witness and understand the proud history and traditions of HBCUs while proving their relevancy for today and how they can prosper as a student for the next four years.

The goals of the fair are to:
  • Increase college enrollment in under-served and under-represented populations of the community
  • Educate the community about the value of Historically Black Colleges and Universities
  • Allow participants to become familiar with a variety of financial aid programs and educational resources
  • Connect post-secondary options to a student's career, internship, and vocational interest and opportunities and
  • Provide relevant programming that showcases student achievement, talents and philanthropy

Registration is required.
