PSAT & NMQST offered Oct. 11

WHCSD is offering the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT) to all 8th and 9th grade scholars and PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) to 10th grade scholars on Wednesday, October 11.

The PSAT is a multiple-choice assessment of verbal, mathematics and writing skills. It offers practice for the SAT Reasoning Test by providing tailored feedback for individual scholar performance with recommendation for improvement.

PSAT/NMSQT® provides 10th grade scholars the opportunity to take a test predicting readiness for college/career and advanced coursework. In addition, PSAT/NMSQT emphasizes skills that enhance careers, including problem solving in science, social science and other real-world contexts.

Prior to testing, scholars will receive a practice guide which should be used to aid in achieving the highest possible score. Results of the October PSAT will be mailed home to parents/guardians early winter along with a guide to understanding the scores.

Tips to help your scholar succeed:

  • Ensure scholars eat a healthy and fulfilling breakfast
  • Scholars must bring #2 pencils and an approved calculator will be provided
  • Scholars must arrive on time the day of testing
  • Read and complete the study guide in its entirety (available for download below)
