Holiday Greeting Card Challenge

The First Annual WHCSD Holiday Greeting Card Art Contest 

All elementary, middle, and high school students are invited to submit original artwork for the cover of ’s official holiday greeting card. This year’s theme is HOLIDAY JOY!

Three student designs—one each from the elementary, middle, and high school levels—will be selected and sent out on behalf of the Board of Education and Superintendent Donald J. Jolly and Treasurer Michael Rock. Cards are sent to community leaders, area businesses, organizations, and other school districts. Each student will submit their artwork to their art teacher by Friday, November 18th to be considered for the competition. 

Contest Guidelines:


  1.  Each school will select top 2 winners from each grade level. 

    1. Art teachers will submit the two finalists from each grade level by Monday, November 21. 

    2. Finalists should be submitted to Savannah Heck (she will pick up from buildings on Tuesday, November 22.)

    3. High school will choose up to 8 finalists.

    4. Middle school will choose up to 6 finalists

    5. Elementary will choose up to 12 finalists.

  2. The three finalist will be selected by the Board of Education, Superintendent and his designees based on originality, theme, use of color, and overall design.

  3. The three students whose works are selected for the Holiday Greeting Card will receive $50 and recognition at the December 14, 2022 meeting of the Board of Education.

  4. The selected artwork will be featured on the district’s website and used in district publicity.

Contest Rules: 

  • Entries are due to your respective Art Teacher (Ms. Roach will collect for any high schoolers looking to submit outside of an art class) by Friday, November 18th

  • Submit only one entry per student. 

  • Artwork should be appropriate for the theme selected and reflect our diverse community that celebrates a variety of holidays, while following the theme HOLIDAY JOY! (theme is optional)

  • Artwork size should be 5½ x 8½ inches or 8½ x 11 inches

  • Submitted art should be easy to scan and reproduce

  • Parent/Guardians must provide permission for entry (grade level finalist)

  • Winners will be announced on December 5th!
