After approval by the Warrensville Heights Board of Education on Wednesday evening, the Warrensville Heights City School District (WHCSD) proudly announces the following administrative changes for the 2020-21 school year, effective August 1, 2020:

• Dr. Richard Reynolds, currently the principal at Warrensville Heights High School, is moving into a new District role serving as the Director of Student Wellness & Innovative Programs. The newly created position was in response to student health standards released by the Ohio Department of Education.

• Rafiq Vaughn, currently the principal at Westwood Elementary School (grades 2-3), will be the new principal at Warrensville Heights High School.

• Andrea Bishop, currently the principal at Eastwood Elementary School (grades 4-5) will now serve two functions: principal of Eastwood Elementary and principal of Westwood Elementary. Bishop will oversee both buildings until Warrensville Heights Elementary School, the District’s state-of-the-art K-5 elementary campus, welcomes scholars in January 2021.

Reynolds (pictured left) is a South Carolina native who has served as principal for Warrensville Heights High School for the past three years.  Prior to his time in the District, he was Head of School of the Problem-based Academy of Critical Thinking (PACT) at John F. Kennedy High School in Cleveland.  Reynolds brings over nineteen years of academic leadership where here he has focused on promoting culturally responsive practices, equity in education, problem-based learning, and mentoring African American males.

As Director of Student Wellness and Innovative Programs, Reynolds will be responsible for ensuring all Warrensville scholars are both supported and engaged in their schools and develop lifelong culturally-affirming competencies. He will also lead the development and implementation of the District’s coronavirus procedures and protocols.

The principalship at Warrensville Heights High School will be filled by Rafiq Vaughn, currently the principal at Westwood Elementary School.  Vaughn, a Cleveland Heights native, joined the District in 2016.

Under his tenure Westwood Elementary has seen tremendous academic gains including an overall ‘B’ letter rating on the 2019 state report card. Westwood was also selected as a 2019 Model School by The International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE) for making rapid and significant improvements in student outcomes. Prior to his time in the District, Vaughn (pictured right), served as an Academy Principal at the high school level for Metro Nashville Public Schools.

“I’m very excited about each of the three leaders we have in place,” said Superintendent Jolly.  “Each of these individuals have been great assets to the District for many years and I am confident that each will take their respective roles to continued heights,” concluded Jolly.
