Every year Warrensville Heights City Schools and many schools across Northeast Ohio participate in the Cleveland Browns Stay In The Game Attendance Awareness initiative. Attendance in schools is important because it ensures that students do not miss out on crucial instruction time. Scholar success is a direct reflection of their attendance in school. As we continue to champion the importance of reading and comprehension success, we ask that parents continue the support and efforts to get scholars to school on time, and in class as many days as possible. The odds of achieving reading success by the end of third grade are reduced by 3% for every day of school missed in kindergarten through third grade. Missing just two days a month (chronic absenteeism) in Kindergarten is also linked to lower achievement inf fifth grade reading and math. This month we will continue to share the importance of school attendance. We hope parents and families will join us on this journey throughout the year to ensure our students are present .
