Principal, Warrensville Heights Middle School

Takiba Thompson serves as the principal of Warrensville Heights Middle School, where she oversees the education and development of scholars from sixth through eighth grade. With a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baldwin Wallace University and a Master’s degree in Education, Takiba brings 18 years of experience in urban education, 9 years being in the Warrensville Heights City School District.

Her career in education began as a Special Education Teacher, working with students with diverse disabilities in the East Cleveland community. This foundational experience shaped her passion for fostering engaging, and high-achieving learning environments.

Takiba Thompson is dedicated to collaborating with parents, children, staff, and grade-level teams to create a positive school culture. Her mission is to provide a safe and inspiring environment where children can thrive and grow into world-class leaders. She has also been a speaker and facilitator at meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions, demonstrating her commitment to people and her clear sense of purpose in education.

Currently, Takiba is actively involved in literacy projects, grants, and initiatives to promote The Science of Reading and other best practices in teaching strategies. Through these efforts, she has empowered her teachers with targeted professional development, equipping them to deliver high-quality literacy instruction. Her ultimate goal is to inspire a love of reading in children performing below grade level, helping them gain the confidence and curiosity needed to succeed.

In her personal life, Takiba treasures time spent with her family. She firmly believes that with hard work and dedication, any challenge can be overcome.

Terrance Curtain, Assistant Principal

Mr. T.M. Curtain Jr., M.Ed, is a graduate of the University of Toledo and a native of Shaker Heights. He is a dedicated educator, transformational leader, and professional speaker with over two decades of experience in urban education. As a former English teacher, administrator, and coach of football, basketball, and baseball, he has built impactful relationships with families and community leaders to support student success. His passion lies in igniting the light within people through teaching, mentoring educators, and developing student-centered programs.

With a Master’s in Educational Administration from Ashland University and a strong background in instructional leadership, Mr. Curtain specializes in teacher coaching, curriculum development, and leadership training. His expertise extends to technology integration and professional development for educators and school leaders.

Mr. Curtain is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and serves as Dean of Training and Development and Ordination Chairman of the ONFJ COGIC. He is committed to empowering educators and students to reach their full potential through innovation, inspiration, and strategic support.
