Dear Warrensville Heights Families,
I appreciate your patience, flexibility, and continued partnership while navigating this challenging winter season. In every decision we make, our priority remains clear: providing strong learning experiences for our scholars while keeping safety at the forefront.
Based on the most recent information available we anticipate that, Warrensville Heights City Schools will be open tomorrow, Thursday, January 29, 2026. At this time, schools are expected to operate on a normal schedule.
While conditions have improved, temperatures will remain frigid. We encourage families to ensure scholars are dressed appropriately for winter weather, including warm coats, hats, gloves, and layered clothing, and to plan for safe travel to and from school. Being prepared is especially important during prolonged cold conditions.
We continue to monitor weather conditions closely and will notify you via the various channels: news channels, social media, our website, email, call and text if we anticipate any changes.
We remain committed to the well being, safety, and success of our scholars and community.

Warrensville Heights City Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28, for the safety of our students and staff.
Please stay warm, stay safe, and take care of one another. Any additional updates will be shared via phone, text, email, ClassDojo, Facebook, the district website and our Warrensville App.

There will be no classes, and all district buildings will be closed.

Parents/Guardians,
There will be no school tomorrow Friday, January 23, 2026 due to extreme cold temperatures, including a wind chill of -20 degrees. Our district has a significant number of students who walk to and from school, and it is imperative that we prioritize the safety and well-being of our scholars. Exposure to these conditions poses a serious risk. Thank you for your understanding and continued partnership. Please stay warm and safe.

A big congratulations is in order to our Warrensville Heights Elementary School students. Students in grades first through fifth received some major prizes last week as part of Superintendent Jolly's attendance incentive. These students were selected on the basis of having excellent attendance in school! #TigerPride #WHES #attendancematters

On Monday, at Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Cleveland Chapter hosted its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, recognizing 18 leaders for their impactful service to the community. As we begin to prepare for our March Into Kindergarten event in a couple of months, for planning purposes it is important that you understand the new kindergarten age eligibility requirements for Ohio. As of late December, Governor DeWine signed House Bill 114, which changes the kindergarten age eligibility requirement for children starting kindergarten in Ohio.
Children must be 5 years old on or before the first day of school to be eligible to enroll for the 2026–2027 school year. Warrensville Height City Schools tentative first day of school pending board approval is August 19, 2026. This means that your scholar must be five years of age on or before that date.
This is a change from the previous cutoff date and may impact some families as they plan for their child’s educational journey. Please contact the Warrensville Heights Early Childhood Center if you have any further questions and as always we continue to innovate, elevate and empower not only our scholars but our whole Warrensville Tiger Community. #TigerPride
