Good Afternoon, this is Superintendent Marva Kay Jones of the Warrensville Heights City School District. This message is for all parents of 3rdgrade students in our district.
On Friday, September 21st, there will be a parent meeting for all parents of 3rd grade students who will be taking a reading test as required by Senate Bill 316. This is a new requirement. This very important meeting will be held at Eastwood Elementary at 6:00 p.m. It is essential that parents and/or adult family members attend in order for the administration and teaching team to share with you vital information on this topic. This test can make a difference in your child’s educational plan for the future.
The law requires that this test be given by September 30, which means it will be given as mandated by the State of Ohio Department of Education next week. At Eastwood, the test will be given on Monday, September 24th.
Every 3rd grade child will be identified as on-track or not-on track to be reading at grade level based upon 2nd grade standards expectations.
Tomorrow night you will have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss your child’s reading plan for this year. We look forward to creating a very close partnership with you this year in order to ensure success and their promotion to 4th grade at the end of the school year.
