8th Grade Transition

We are using Google Forms to help the community ask us questions or provide feedback regarding our 8th Graders transition to the High School next year! All responses are optional.

WHCSD Assistant Superintendent Forum

Warrensville staff, parents and community members are invited to attend a forum on Tuesday, April 9 at which two finalists for the Assistant Superintendent in the Warrensville Heights City School District will respond to questions submitted by you (see instructions below).  The forum will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, starting promptly at 6:00pm in Room 154 of the high school. Staff and community input will be solicited through a proxy vote at the end of the evening.

On March 8th, 2013 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, over 30 local organizations will be available to share information and resources for early education success. For additional information, check out the flyer!

OTES (Ohio Teacher Evaluation System)

The District has created an OTES committee in line with our strategic plan consisting of Administrators and Teachers. We are working as a team to ensure all of the requirements of HB316 and HB555 are met. The team has attended trainings and continues to meet regularly in order to meet the deadlines. The Board of Education will be adopting the finalized evaluation by June 2013. More information about OTES can be found by clicking here.

Homeless Students
The economic downturn has forced many families and youth into homelessness which can jeopardize children and youth’s consistent school attendance and educational success. The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act of 2001 requires public school districts to ensure the educational rights of students experiencing homelessness. Click here to read more..
Board of Education Organizational and Informational Meeting
 The 2013 Organizational Meeting of the Warrensville Heights Board of Education will take place on Thursday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 154 at the high school at 4270 Northfield Road. 


At this meeting, the Board of Education will elect the President and Vice President for 2013 and set dates and times for holding regular meetings during this calendar year.

The Board of Education's first regular meeting of the year will immediately follow the Organizational Meeting at approximately 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend both meetings.

Effective today, the phone numbers at the WHCSD are changing. Please refer to the following list to help guide your calls in the right directions. All calls will begin at the main numbers listed below:

Fax numbers are posted at the bottom of the webpage for each building and are not changing. If a fax line is not working, please alert the staff.

A National Tragedy
Hello Warrensville Heights City School District family, this message is being sent as a follow up to yesterday’s communication regarding the tragic events that unfolded in Connecticut.

As a reminder, please know that we have a crisis plan in place to respond to emergency situations.
This plan was developed with the coordination of the tri-city safety forces.

WHCSD Lockdown Drills
Today we received the tragic news of a school shooting in Connecticut. Over the last week the Warrensville Heights City School District ran successful lockdown drills in all facilities.  These drills were completed to begin teaching all of our students and staff the proper and best way to manage such a horrific event. Although the State Report Card results have been delayed due to the Auditor’s ongoing investigation of some school districts’ attendance data, they have released preliminary information as of October 17.
 
We are pleased to tell you that Warrensville Heights City Schools met our Value Added target for the 2011-2012 school year.

The Cleveland Council of Black Colleges Alumni Association, representing graduates and supporters of any accredited public or private Historically Black College or University (HBCU) that reside in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area presents its 10th Annual HBCU College Fair. Warrensville Heights High School has been nominated as a "Cool School" in Northeast, Ohio by News Channel 8.  We are in competition with Riverside High School in Painesville, Ohio and Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth, Ohio.  Please go on line today and vote for our school! Literacy and What to Do Beyond the Classroom (April 10th)

What can I do as a parent to support the skills my child needs in Reading?

Participants will discuss effective literacy strategies (Pre-K to 3rd grade) to build rich discussion and reading experiences over the summer. Learn about authentic open ended questioning to build relationships and oral language skills as well as strategies and techniques to help your developing reader beyond saying "sound it out".

Boys Basketball Regional Semi-Finals!

Come one come ALL lets support Coach Swift and the WH Boys Basketball Team as they play against Cardinal Mooney High School in the Regional Semi-Finals Division II on Thursday, March 14th at the Canton Civic Center, 1101 Market Ave, N Canton, OH; beginning at 8:00pm.

Tickets are $6.00 and can be purchased from Mrs. Fannie Dean at the WH Recreation Center daily from 6:00am-7:00pm. The purchase of a ticket allows you a ride on the "Fan Bus", which leaves the recreation center at 6:15pm. Hope to see you there.
