Alternative placements temporarily remove students from the regular school setting. Students are given alternative placements in lieu of suspensions and/or expulsion from school. In some cases, this may be given to students who committed offenses that, under ordinary circumstances and without the benefit of an alternative placement, would have caused them to be suspended or expelled from school.
