The department is responsible for assuring that applicants are aware of existing laws that must be followed in order for a parent or guardian to be able to educate his or her child at home. When parents choose to educate their children at home, the Superintendent or designee must approve the curriculum. In addition, the curriculum department is responsible for making certain that an annual assessment of the child's progress takes place before the child can be approved for home schooling in subsequent years.
