Welcome to Our Transportation Department
As part of the Operations division, our Transportation Department is led by the Transportation Supervisor and is dedicated to ensuring the safe transportation of our scholars to and from school, as well as to field trips and special events. We strive to provide a secure and reliable service that supports the educational journey of our students.
Important Reminders for Parents and Guardians
To ensure a safe and smooth transportation experience for all, we would like to remind parents and guardians of a few key rules that their scholars must follow when using bus transportation, in accordance with Ohio Law:
Respect for Bus Safety Rules: Students must adhere to all safety rules and instructions provided by bus drivers and school staff. This includes staying seated, keeping hands and feet inside the bus, and avoiding distractions while the bus is in motion.
Proper Behavior: Scholars are expected to act in a manner that is respectful and responsible on the bus. This includes refraining from bullying, using inappropriate language, or engaging in any behavior that could compromise safety. For more information about these rules, check out our School PBIS pages.
School Bus Safety Awareness: Students should be aware of the dangers of passing stopped school buses. In Ohio, it is illegal to pass a stopped school bus that is loading or unloading passengers. Parents can reinforce this message by discussing the importance of school bus safety with their children.
Emergency Procedures: Students should be familiar with emergency procedures, such as evacuation drills, and follow instructions from bus drivers during such situations.
Parental Support: We encourage parents to reinforce these rules at home and to communicate with us if they have any concerns or questions about bus safety or behavior.
Be on Time: Please have your child at his or her assigned bus stop 5 minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive (in accordance with Ohio Law 3301-83-08-C1). Your child should be at the bus stop, not getting out of a car or coming out of a house, as this could be very dangerous. If you have a house stop, your child should be waiting at the door prepared to go to school. Drivers cannot blow bus horns or wait for students as this could delay arrival times at schools.
If your child misses the bus: Please DO NOT chase the bus or go to another bus stop – instead, please take your child to school. Ohio Law 3301-83-13-B5 stipulates that all students use their assigned bus stop. These laws are designed to protect your child’s safety.
If you have any questions or need further information about our transportation policies or safety measures, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are committed to working together to ensure a safe and successful transportation experience for all our scholars.
